GP1415 One Year Anniversary
December 30, 2007 on 7:59 pm | In Recent Posts | 5 CommentsYesterday marked a year that we visited Habberstad MINI with GP0154 and GP1717 to get state inspections and a new JCW Steering wheel for GP0154 and while the girls were getting serviced we went into the showroom and what to our pleasant surprise did we see greeting us but GP1415 with a bow on her looking oh so pretty.
It was fate and the perfect xmas gift to myself as she was delivered to Habberstad the day before after being transferred in from a several car swap with Princeton MINI. The showroom was closed so we waited an hour for the sales folks to arrive, closed the deal and arranged for her to be flat bedded to the house the following day during a rather unseasonably warm day.
GP1415 was transported on flatbed from the dealership into my garage preserving her original 15.6 miles but on the way home the flatbed stopped for a quick drink.
GP0154 and GP1717 waited anxiously in the driveway for the arrival of their new sister and then their were three.
and a little while later Ian and GP0203 arrived and there were four!
In the last year unlike her sisters who have been covered events GP1415 has spent her time with her paws up on tire cradles and living in her Carcoon coming out on a couple of occasions when all the stars aligned. A year later she still smells like a brand new year.. oh yeah she still is.
Ian, you’d be happy to know that I finally painted that one wall but a few days later the rest of the downstairs was completely gutted hopefully by the end of January it will be livable again.
Classic’s Cruising Home
December 26, 2007 on 7:45 pm | In Classic Mini | 9 CommentsFor Xmas my new additional boarded W&W cruise line in Belgium to begin her journey to the states but luckily she won’t be alone she’ll be traveling with her sister. Pictured here on their way to the port and then patiently waiting in queue to board.
Here Route takes her to the UK, Canada and NY before jumping off in Baltimore.
GP1717 One Year Anniversary
December 9, 2007 on 9:30 pm | In Recent Posts | 2 CommentsToday marked the one year anniversary of picking up GP1717 from Herb Chambers in Boston. We got her a balloon that she’ll see in the spring when she comes out of her hibernating carcoon and she’ll get her Xmas gift.
In her first year she covered 8500 miles and attended MinisOnTop , SummerSplash, British Invasion, MAMA V and MotorTober HC Event. Sleep tight lil GP, see you in the spring and when you come out you’ll get to meet your new little sister.
Classic Weekend, Mokes & Mini Hauler
December 9, 2007 on 7:00 pm | In Classic Mini | 3 CommentsI spent the weekend in Florida visiting my folks and my little darling. When I arrived Friday night I uncovered her and realized I never put the battery tender on after putting her away from coming back from Mickie & Mini event in September. I figured the battery was dead but to my pleasant surprise the alarm disarm chimed and she fired up like the day I put her away.
Saturday morning I took her to DJMINIS for an oil service and tune-up and closer look at her flawless undercarriage.
Later in the afternoon she got four new rubber soles for her paws that really transformed her into a new car. I had vibrations at speeds and she was rather noisy. Several folks commented that the Rover Sportpack has an inherit vibration due to the wider 13″ wheels but once I shed those 10 year old dry-rotted, flat-spotted Dunlop’s in favor of a new set of Yokohama A539 that I ordered from MiniMania she rides as smooth as butter and is so much quieter.
While I was at DJMINI’s. I looked around at the cars he had there. An old Wolseley Hornet,
Some other classics for sale and Diones wife’s RHD Classic with MiniSport Stage 1 kit which I took for a spin and found the increased +-30hp that the kit provides really helps transform the car. It provides a nice boost in hp/torque throughout the range and will be looking to upgrade my classic to either this kit or perhaps the 90hp John Cooper kit. She needs a little boost to help compensate for the what the A/C robs.
While I was waiting Bob showed up in his recently restore Green Moke to get his timing checked
And if you thought the Classic small how about a Classic Mini Hauler? And here I was worried about hauling a classic with my GP.
Sunday morning I got up and took her down to the beach and Tarpon Springs where she ran into some Classic MG from the ‘Nature Coast English Car Club’.
Came back home, gave her a bath, a wax and put her to sleep until I visit again. xoxox Daddy
