Carcoon ‘bubble’ for GP1415

My Carcoon order arrived and I wasted no time getting GP1415 inside her bubble.   What is Carcoon?  Here is an exert from Carcoon’s website.

Carcoon is the ultimate automobile storage system designed to protect your precious
investment. With it’s unique patented “active airflow” process and other advanced
features,
Carcoon sets a new standard in car care.  The Carcoon is a lightweight yet extremely durable  “bubble”
which is inflated around the vehicle to be stored. Two low voltage fans keep the Carcoon inflated and maintain a constant flow of re-circulated
air around the vehicle.

The Outdoor Carcoon is a double skin construction (a bubble within a bubble) with an insulating air gap between each skin. The base mat is also insulated using two layers of heavy duty Poly Plax mat with an insulating foam between each layer.

The material of the  outdoor Carcoon is very special, being double alloy coated. The alloy coating provides unrivalled outdoor protection, blocking 99.9% of the damaging Ultra Violet. Any vehicle exposed to UV light for prolonged periods can suffer considerable damage, for example, UV light alone will oxidise even the best paintwork. Once the paint starts to breakdown it becomes particularly vulnerable to attack from air borne pollutants such as acid rain etc. Rubber seals are also damaged by UV, the resultant ingress of water rapidly accelerates the rusting process from within.

Importantly this special alloy coated material (MVCR) also blocks Infra Red light.

Blocking the infra-red (primary heat source) keeps the interior temperature of the Carcoon stable; temperature stability is a very important part of the whole concept.

Primary filters are covered, keeping the filters dry and protecting them from the UV

So after laying down the base mat I drove GP1415 into position and then placed the top piece on and zippered it.

Plugged it in and a few minutes later her ‘bubble’ came to life.

So now GP1415 is hermetically sealed.   It was not cheap but it is the best protection you can get.  I opted using the outdoor carcoon instead of the indoor because if I need to do any work in the garage or work on one of the other girls I can leave her outside and ensure her the maximum level of protection.  Silver 850i who was displaced from her garage spot when GP1415 arrived is also now residing in her own Outdoor Carcoon.

  6. seems you get what you pay for with the cheaper carcapsule. I’ve been using a pair of outdoor Carcoons for two years through two rough snow/rain windows and has not failed me nor diminished in quality or protection. Yes it is rather expensive but made to last.
